I’ve had requests for tablature for songs from my Hawaiian to Jazz CD . Sleepwalk is most requested so here it is. I played it in on my 8 string on the CD but I have adapted this for six string C6 tuning. The original is in C# but everyone does it in C. C# gives the advantage of being able to bar at the first fret and add bar motion rather than boring open strings. My arrangement avoids this though as you will see. I think I go through the song once on my demo and you can always buy the CD from me or a single song download on iTunes, CD Baby, or Amazon. Here is the link to the PDF tab SLEEPWALK TAB

Hi Louise, I’m on my third semester of teaching Hawaiian Steel Guitar at the college here and I am developing quite a bit of material for harmonized melodies and also the art of accompanying a singer I. The hawaiian style. I hope to make a book out of this along with links to my accompanying videos.
You might find those helpful. They are on my YouTube channel. mauicollege.
What are you interested in? Aloha, Joel

I take it you teach lap steel? I like what I hear on this web site and I am interested in learning You have cds to learn from?
and tabs with backing tracks?
I have a number of Canopus guitars, all 8 string. One of the guitars is tuned to E6 and the other to C6. My C6 is tuned as following: 1 – G
2 – E
3 – C
4 – A
5 – G
6 – E
7 – C
8 – A
I have found it very difficult to find any C6 music written for 8 string lap steel, other than what I have gotten from Cindy Cashdollar. I love her arrangements but she declined writing any more tablature. (I asked her if she would) I would be interested in what you have for 8 string. I have EVERYTHING that I can buy for C6 from the internet, but it is all for 6 string, much of which is good never the less. I play mostly Hawaiian music on my guitar tuned to E6, which is as follows: 1-E / 2-C# / 3- B /4-G# / 5 – E /6 – C# /7 – B / 8 – E I have never come across your site before.

Hi Joel I have a Fenders stringmaster 8 string double neck & a 6 string Fenders champion .took lessons when I was a young teenager now I am in my later years I am trying to play again .
Having trouble reading music. Any suggestions?? love your playing
I do the tablature in Guitar Pro software and it allows for standard notation, which can be a bit more descriptive in timing. My tuning is C6 with a high G and low Bb and it is a better tuning for 8 string in my opinion. The tablature makes more sense for steel guitar because there are so many places to play the same note and the key to a good arrangement is finding the best places to play on the neck.
Reading tablature is a steep but fast learning curve. It will be very slow at first but you will improve quickly if you stick with it. I mean a noticeable difference within a day or two. take it one measure at a time and work your way through. You will improve through repetition and playing correctly. stick with it. Let me know if I can help.
You mean reading tablature?
Reading tablature is best. It’s slow at first but you will improve. Perfect small sections first
