I played solo at a really nice wedding at the Kea Lani. I love doing weddings with my steel guitar. Kim at Envisions is an angel. The hot sun on my wooden lap steel is a drag to keep in tune. The C6 tuning has an A and a G which are very close together in pitch. They need to be in perfect tune.
I got a chance to use some QSC K10 powered speakers which are on loan to me. Amazing sound from such a small package.
I did some of my smooth jazz guitar tracks too which have lots of bass. It sounded like there were subs. I love good sound…The wedding party went out of their way to compliment it all. A great time..

Hi Joel,
I sent the following email several days ago but it went to your old email address. I have since listened to your recorded samples and I like what you are doing very much. The guitar sounds great. Anyway, I thought I would try this email contact in hopes of finding you. I still can’t believe you have been on Maui for 25 years. Where has the time gone.
Regards,
Frank
Hi Joel,
I have been wondering what happened to you. This evening I thought it was worth looking on the internet for you and sure enough, there you are in Maui. Rochester weather must have gotten to you. Anyway, I knew it was you as soon as I saw your picture and the song list including Mr. Magic and Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. What happened to the Penguin Stomp? I haven’t been active in music since the 80s thought I miss the old days. Actually, a band at UConn asked me to sub for the regular upright bass player a couple of years ago and I practiced for a couple of months for the occasion. I think they were a bit surprised how funky the music was but I have never player with a worse drummer. Other than that brief engagement, I haven’t been playing. I still read Bass Player but quite honestly, the music is just too advanced for me. If you haven’t heard of her, check out Tal Wilhenfeld and her work with Jeff Beck. She is getting rave reviews.
If you get a chance, drop me a line. If you are ever in Connecticut, let me know. It would be great to see you.
Take care and Regards,
Frank Nichols
