Hi Joel, nice talking to you at the Botanical Gardens about learning to play the steel guitar.
I am a left handed beginner, but willing to play right handed if that would be easier. At your suggestion I have looked on Ebay and found some guitars like a Gold Tone LS-8 8 string lap for between $650 – $750. I am willing to pay up to $750 for a guitar plus whatever else you recommend.
I would like to get lessons either at the college or in your private class. I agree with you that you should have a beginners class and an advanced class.
My goal is to practice playing Hawaiian, jazz and blues with a jack with head phones to not disturb anyone. I would appreciate any suggestions as to an amp to buy and picks.
You can reach me at 808-214-5223.

Aloha Professor Katz,
My daughter will be a Maui High Student next year and would like to take beginning guitar with you as a Running Start class/elective.
She will be 14 however has been doing homestudy and is entering a high school as a Junior.
However, your Fall class is only offered during school hours.
Are you able to hold another section of this class after school hours?
Please advise.
Thank you,
Mele Nelson
